The next election for the Grand Valley Drainage District board is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8th, 2018. The major issue of the election will be the monthly charge for stormwater improvements that was put in place three years ago. Candidate Dave Edwards supports maintaining the stormwater charge, whereas Mary Brophy says she is a skeptic. Only residents of the drainage district’s Division 3 will be eligible to vote in the upcoming election. To read more, click here.

Party Assemblies Meet this Weekend to Determine Primary Ballot:
This Saturday, April 14th, both the Democrat and Republican state assemblies will be convening to determine which candidates will appear on the primary ballot this June. At both assemblies, party delegates will vote for candidates for governor, treasurer, secretary of state, attorney general and a CU Board of Regents seat. Each candidate needs the support of 30 percent of the voting delegates to appear on the primary ballot. Gubernatorial candidates can skip the state assembly process entirely by petitioning, in which they need to collect 1,500 valid signatures from registered party members in each of the state's seven congressional districts.
