Paid FAMLI Sponsors Endorse Ballot Initiative
In a joint press release sent out last Thursday, Paid Family & Medical Leave bill sponsors announced that they will no longer pursue legislation when the legislature reconvenes in two weeks. Instead, the sponsors are endorsing initiatives for the November ballot that would institute a statewide paid family and medical leave program. The initiatives outline three different paid leave options for Coloradoans, all of which begin in 2023 and range in allowing for 12-26 weeks of paid leave coverage. So far, the initiatives have received their titles from the Title Board, but have not yet been cleared for circulation.

Suggested Statutory Change Will Allow for Property Tax Relief
|
Business communities from across Colorado have requested that the State explores a statutory change that would provide significant property tax relief to taxpayers. The proposed statutory amendment would allow local governments to temporarily reduce or waive the interest rate on delinquent property tax payments for a specified period of time between May 1, 2020 and October 31, 2020. This proposed statutory change is a vital solution for businesses across all sectors throughout the state, in order to keep employees employed and maintain cash for essential expenses.

Relaunching America’s Workforce Act
Rationale: This bill provides over $10 billion to the state and local workforce centers. These funds will support workforce training activities, including career navigation services, access to online skills training and employment services. These services are especially vital as we prepare to rebound from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The next legislative video conference will be held on Tuesday, May 19th at 7:00 am via Zoom webinar.
