House Debates Budget
The Colorado House has been debating the budget, also known as the long bill this week and also passed Senate Bill 255 to move $20 million from severance tax dollars to the general fund in order to balance the budget and pay out required Tabor refunds. For the latest debates click here.

Chamber Joins Coalition on Ballot Measure Reform
The Chamber Executive Committee approved the Chamber joining a coalition of business organizations backing a Senate Concurrent Resolution that will be introduced by, Senators Ellen Roberts and Pat Steadman (likely SCR 002) that would establish a two-tier, two-year process for approval of constitutional amendments. We believe this measure affirms the importance of the Colorado Constitution by raising the bar required to amend our state’s most important governing document.

City Election Results
Two new faces will soon be joining the Grand Junction City Council. Rick Taggart and Chris Kennedy are slated to begin their new duties on May 4th alongside returning council members Bennett Boeschenstein, Duncan McArthur and Barbara Traylor Smith. Voters also approved a measure to increase the City’s involvement in broadband development and rejected a measure to finish the Riverside Parkway. For complete election results click here
