Grand Valley Drainage Fee Update
The Grand Valley Drainage District (GVDD) held two public forums this week that were open to the public to educate attendees regarding the state of the GVDD conveyance system. The infrastructure is overdue for improvements needed to mitigate flooding and manage stormwater. Various Chamber Board members and staff were present at both forums with the intention of asking the Board to delay implementation and work toward a valley wide solution that may be less impactful on businesses and commercial property owners. Lift the Ban
The U.S. is the largest oil and natural gas producer in the world, nearly doubling domestic production and creating surpluses that could be sold overseas. Our nation is still the only oil producing country that prohibits exporting crude oil. Lifting the ban makes smart economic sense for America because it could create 1.5 million supply chain jobs as well as adding $220 billion in annual GDP growth by 2018. It's time for Congress to act and bring U.S. energy policy into the 21st century. Join the Chamber in telling Congressional leaders that it's time to lift the ban on crude oil exports.
