Supporting West Star Aviation
The Chamber and Mesa County Commissioners both support HB16-1119 which was passed unanimously by the House’s Business Affairs and Labor Committee this week. This bill aims to extend the current sales and use tax exemption criterion regarding the duration that newly purchased aircraft may remain grounded in Colorado while it undergoes repairs or modifications associated with the sale of that aircraft. This bill directly impacts the mission of West Star Aviation and its approximate 400 employees.

Regulation Will Raise Electricity Rates
The U.S. Chamber has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to challenge the EPA’s rule regulating greenhouse gas emissions under Section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act. Challengers argue that the Clean Power Plan (CPP) will harm state and local economies; and, that it intrudes on states’ authority to oversee their electricity systems.
